Hello, my name is Olga Gribanova and as the name suggests I am of Russian descent. I am a graduate of Saint Petersburg Technology & Design University with a Master's degree, I am happily married with two wonderful children; one of which is married with 2 children making me a proud grandmother.
In 1999, my husband was offered a job in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. This is what originally gave my family the opportunity to move to the United States. When we arrived it was a great culture shock for all of us. I could only speak Russian and I did not know the American way of doing things. So, it was a great challenge fitting in. However, I was surprised to be able to master the English language so very quickly.
From this point, my husband and I worked to become naturalized US citizens. At the time, I was focused on becoming involved in local social life. I volunteered with the Red Cross (Community Service, helping elderly people on an everyday basis), supporting the Volunteers of America (translating some surveys from Russian to English and practicing and building office work skills). Soon enough I was able to utilize these skills to land a job with Pentagon Federal Credit Union as a financial assistant, where I ultimately retired (served from 2004 to 2015).
These job duties were critical in allowing me to become acquainted with many people, especially those from the Military Community; many of whom I have helped along the way and who are now helping me. Goes without saying that this Credit Union position was critical in leading me towards a successful career in Real Estate (which I began in 2006). This success, I believe, came from hard work and experience working for the Credit Union, and my personality (which is outgoing and sociable). Leveraging this experience and my personality traits to my surprise have allowed me to participate now in over 150 RE (buy/sell/rental) transactions to date and growing.
In 2018 I earned an Instructor Certificate for teaching Pre-Licensing Real Estate courses and began teaching. This has been my “give back” to the community and to the company which gave me my start, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services PenFed Realty (2006 - 2019). I have been happy to share my knowledge and extensive experience with my students. Many of my former students now have received their licenses in VA and have started practicing in the Real Estate field.
In 2011, I started a property management company (Grove One Properties, LLC) and now currently manage/oversee 15 rentals (this number varies). In June of 2019, I received my broker’s license and in September 2019, I decided to venture out on my own creating my own Real Estate company; expanding Grove One Properties LLC to a full-service Real Estate business.
However, it would be amiss, at this point, if I didn’t give credit to Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, PenFed Realty, for all the training, care and support they provided me over many years, which most certainly has catapulted me to where I am today; for which I am deeply thankful. As I personally continue to grow within the Real Estate occupation, I am finding a deeper level of profound satisfaction and happiness, as I am able to continue to assist people with their desires. For me, it’s all about helping make dreams come true and going the extra mile. And because of this I have developed many close lasting friendships/relationships. And by-the-way, no property is too far away for me to travel to, there is no area of town that I will not consider, no property that is too dilapidated and/or there is no time of day or night that will prevent me from working with someone reach their goals.
I am incredibly proud of all my achievements, one of which was being the recipient of the 2018 President’s Circle award which BHHS PenFed Realty nominated me for. Also from 2016-2018, I received the Lead society Edge award. I feel I am a great example of the American dream come true. I came to the States with 2 bags and $100 in my pocket and now I have more than I ever dreamed of having; not only in terms of financial increase but the countless numbers of friends and satisfied clients who call me friend.
In conclusion, the decision to come to the United States of America has been by far the best decision I have ever made. I am very grateful to America for the endless opportunities that have presented themselves to me and my family.
